About This Calculator

How the DIME method works

D Debts

Any outstanding debts (excluding your mortgage) plus estimated final/funeral expenses, so your family isn't left settling these from their own pocket.

I Income

Your monthly income × 12 × the number of years your family would need it replaced usually until children are financially independent.

M Mortgage

Your remaining home loan balance, so your family isn't at risk of losing the family home.

E Education

An estimated fund per child to cover their schooling, from where they are now through graduation.

This is an educational estimate only. The DIME method is a widely-used starting point, not personalized financial advice, and doesn't replace a full needs analysis. Actual recommendations depend on your complete financial picture, health, existing policies, and goals.
